Alec rides the British GHS Finals

DSC_7720Representing the ACME, Alec Morris was selected to ride The British GHS Championship after finishing on the podium of the South Wales District GHS.  The undulating course in Hertfordshire was a tough test for the 132 schoolboys competing over the 10 miles where Alec produced a 25.50, a great time considering the terrain and windy conditions.

To round off a good year for Alec at this year’s Presentation Dinner he will be awarded two trophies for his determination throughout the season. Firstly he has become the Club 5 Mile Series Champion collecting the most points during the series as his time trialing as improved month by month, as a result he will collect the “Dudley Thomas Memorial Trophy”. Also the Schoolboy Best All Rounder trophy will be engraved with his name as Alec as ridden the necessary open events to qualify for the award. His fastest 10 mile time this year has been a 24.46 a counting event for the BAR.

Carl Wins 2015 Hill Climb Series

Carl Middleton as won the 2015 Hill Climb series in his first year of racing for tDSC_0350 rhe club. A talented climber Carl set some great times on the Bwlch mountain climb thought-out the series. Carl Regularly competes in Biathlons so he no stranger to tough competition and regularly trains on the hills around the Rhondda Valley’s. At the forthcoming Presentation Dinner he will be presented with the “Tony Gammon Trophy”.

Tour of Britain News

Congratulations to Dale Appleby who recently completed the Tour of Britain Cycle R_DSC0256ace. Dale started cycling with the ACME and now rides for the NFTO Professional team. The 2015 edition of the British race was regarded as a tough event with a world class field, won by  MTN-Qhubeka rider Edvald Boasson Hagen. Dale originally from the Rhondda was the 15th best British rider in the pack overall. A Specialist climber Dale did take the ACME Hill Climb Championship trophy in 2002 as a young member.  Members recently met up with Dale before the Abergavenny classic and he said then he was very pleased with his form in the run up to the British premier event.
